This mixed-media collage features two young men dressed in scouting uniforms and subverts typical Boy Scout imagery into a homoerotic artistic statement. Demélier typically worked on smaller, sketch-sized mixed media pieces that he heavily layered with ink, gouache, and cut paper fragments and his work is often transgressive and deeply satirical. This piece integrates the collage into a painted frame and is also painted on the glass itself. Signed at lower right and on verso which includes dates of 1977 and 1983. Purchased at the liquidation sale of the Musée de l'Érotisme in Paris in 2016. Several of his works are in the permanent collection of the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris. Very good, light loss to edges of frame, a few small chips.
