A treatise of the use of flogging in venereal affairs: Also of the office of the loins and reins. Written to the famous Christianus Cassius, bishop of Lubeck, and privy-councellor to the Duke of Holstein.
London: Edmund Curll (1718). 72pp.
Item #9147
An early English translation of this treatise on sexual deviancy and flagellation. Meibom notes that individuals in Germany found using flogging for sexual gratification were reportedly burned alive. This reflects the severe legal and social attitudes toward non-procreative or "unnatural" sexual practices during that era. Very good in later wrappers, residue of original wrappers. Engraved frontispiece, small repair to one corner of frontispiece page, bottom third of title page excised. Uncommon.
