Graham Greene's longtime paramour, Walston was his mistress and muse for many years, beginning in 1946. Greene, a frequent visitor to Capri, was on close terms with Norman Douglas, who resided with Kenneth Macpherson and his lover, Islay deCourcy Lyons for many yeears in Capri. Dottoressa Moor, a longtime friend of Greene and Douglas, was the subject of Greene's memoir of her, An Impossible Woman: The Memories of Dottoressa Moor of Capri (1975). The vintage image was printed by Lyons and was part of the estate of Norman Douglas.
