The Young & the Evil
The Young & the Evil. The first edition of the controversial gay novel, which focused on bohemian life in Greenwich Village in the late twenties and early thirties. Championed by Gertrude Stein and Djuna Barnes (who contributed blurbs for the jacket), the book was published by Jack Kahane's Obelisk Press after it was rejected elsewhere. Seized by British customs, a number of copies were destroyed and the book is quite uncommon. A lovely copy in original printed wrappers, light edgewear, head and tail of spine lightly taped. More
