This three act play was inspired by the eccentric real-life King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Cocteau directed a 1948 film version of the play, starring his lover Jean Marais.
One of only five copies ("V") of the tête de l'edition printed on Japon, near fine in wrappers.
