Uranian poetry celebrating the beauty of the author's beloved pupil, Alec Melling. A very good copy in a full green morocco binding, marbled endpapers, slight wear to edges and spine. With the bookplate of A.T. Bartholemew. "Southernwood" refers to a plant that is reputed to have an aroma similar to sperm.

Loosely-inserted is a copy of a photograph of Nicholson and his lover Alec Melling, (notation on verso "Collection Donald Weeks," bookplate of A.T. Bartholomew on front pastdown. Very good in quarter cloth, publisher's wrappers bound in at rear [Love in Earnest, p.249]. One of 208 copies, photographic frontispiece. Uncommon.
