Marcuse was an editor for Magnus Hirschfeld’s Journal of Sexology in 1919 and continued editing the journal until 1932. Hémard, Roubille, Vertès, Charles Martin, Text includes works by P. Reboux, M. Dekobra, Séverine, Ch.-H. Hirsh, R. Dorgelès, G. Chérau, R. de Jouvenel, H. Béraud, Curnonsky, P. Mac Orlan, M. Achard, Galtier-Boissière, Colette, F. de Miomandre and others. Of particular interest is the issue entitled "Les Gauchesses" which has numerous illustrations by Martin related to "Un Sport a la Mode: l'Inversion." [Paris?] : [Massot], [between 1958 and 1961]. 66pp. First edition of this erotic text written in 1932 while the author was living on Francis Picabia's yacht moored in Cannes. Andre Gide contributes an extensive introduction to the work, which is a recounting of Massot's homosexual experiences. The author, a member of the Dada movement also describes the artistic and literary circles of Montparnasse with memories of Eric Satie and Marcel Duchamp. Very good in lightly faded wrappers, unbound as issued, paper lightly browned, #122 of 220 copies. It appears that this may be a trade edition of the text published by Pierre-André-Benoit in 1959, which appeared in an edition of 55 copies with an illustration of the author by Jacques Villon. More

Introduction by Andre Dalbigny, S.J. This is the first appearance of these letters and they are an important insight into a part of the writer's life that is not widely known. One of only fifty copies printed on Demi Chiffon Gris Janseniste (and an hors commerce copy for the archbishop of Bordeaux). This copy is also an hors commerce copy. Fine in original black wrappers. Les Enfans de Sodome a l'Assemblée Nationale ou Députation de l'Ordre de la Manchette lists a great number of individuals by name, all of whom were accused of homosexual acts, causing an uproar when it originally appeared. Very good in contemporary 1/4 morocco binding, raised bands, gilt design marbled endpapers, small bookplate on front pastedown one of only 100 numbered copies (copy #62). Rare. More

Paris: Figuiere [1916]. 30pp. A short play script/poem about a romantic drama among two men and a women. Bound in handmade boards, title written on cover, long inscription by the author on endpaper, along with an original drawing adhered to front pastedown, tassled thread, bookplate of Octave Chavaillon. Laid in at rear is a 4pp (1 sheet folded) printed collection of five sonnets entitled "Antinous", each of which are initialed by the author, who has also inscribed and numbered the collection. McAlmon arrived in Paris several years earlier and married Bryher, who financed his Contact Editions. A very good copy in original buff wrappers, spine a bit browned, with slight chipping. More
